FIPA Dialogues in Defeasible Logic

چکیده
In this paper we formalize reasoning about agent dialogue semantics in defeasible logic, including FIPA speech acts. We introduce a defeasible logic for efficient reasoning about agents, roles, mental attitudes, time and communication. We introduce the inform and request action of FIPA in the logic by attributing the mental attitudes to roles, we extend it with defeasible reasoning about the mental states of the involved agents, and we show how composed and abstract speech acts can be formalized. We also show how reasoning about persuasion dialogues can be formalized in the logic.

FIPA Communicative Acts in Defeasible Logic
In agent communication languages, the inferences that can be made on the basis of a communicative action are inherently conditional, and non-monotonic. For example, a proposal only leads to a commitment, on the condition that it is accepted. And in a persuasion dialogue, assertions may later be retracted. In this paper we therefore present a defeasible logic that can be used to express a semant...
متن کاملAn Approach for Argumentation-based Reasoning Using Defeasible Logic in Multi-Agent Programming Languages
Argumentation systems are intimately related to nonmonotonic reasoning, of which defeasible reasoning is one widely-known approach. For example, the literature points out defeasible logic (a particular formalisation of defeasible reasoning) as a practical platform upon which to develop an argumentation system. In this paper, we develop an approach to endow AgentSpeak agents with argumentative c...
متن کاملDialogues and HY-arguments
This paper introduces a new class called hang yourself (HY) arguments into the theory of defeasible argumentation. The novelty of such arguments is that they are inherently destructive: they cannot be used to support conclusions but only to attack other arguments. In this paper it is described what these arguments are, how they can be formalized, and what the formal consequences are of adding t...
متن کاملArgumentation-based Negotiation in t-DeLP-POP
In this contribution, we propose to model argumentation-based negotiation in terms of t-DeLP-POP, a partial order planning system that incorporates temporal defeasible logic. This logic combines temporal facts and durative rules into temporal arguments. We propose a dialogue protocol for the negotiation of plans in this planning system that models a variety of scenarios for argumentative negoti...
متن کاملFrom systems for defeasible argumentation to dialogical systems of argumentation
Nonmonotonic reasoning is a reasoning in which temporary conclusions can be drawn on the basis of incomplete information but which might be withdrawn when more information becomes available. Systems for defeasible argumentation capture this kind of reasoning in terms of interactions between conflictual arguments. Nonmonotonic reasoning is explained in terms of defeasibility since arguments can ...
